Haunting

She left a trail
             of watery footprints
                                     from the bath
                                                            to our bed,
                                                            and I awoke to cold wet sheets
                                                            again. 
                                                            I said, 
                                                            “Can’t you forgive me yet?”
                                                            Watery prints 
                                           lead away from the bed
                        the taps in the bathroom are running
             again.
